This website, the Bay City, Michigan community guide (the "Site"), is operated by Todd Allyn Media Inc ("we," "us"). This policy explains what information the Site collects, how it is used, and what other companies may receive when you use it. We keep it simple: the Site does not have accounts and does not sell your personal information. The Site may show advertising provided by Google (AdSense), described in the "Advertising" section below, and it does not run any other analytics or tracking tools.
Information we collect
- We do not ask you to create an account and we do not collect payment information.
- Information you send us. If you use the "Add a Business or Event" form, the details you type (such as business name, address, phone, website, description and your email address) are placed into an email message in your own email program. They reach us only if you press send. We use them to review and update our listings and to contact you about your submission.
- Server logs. Like most websites, the company that hosts the Site may automatically record technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested. This is used for security and basic operation and is controlled by the hosting provider.
- Information stored in your browser. The Site stores a short-lived copy of the weather forecast in your browser's session storage so it does not reload on every page. It disappears when you close the tab. The internal media tracker page saves status choices in your browser's local storage on your own device only. The Site also stores your privacy choice (accept or reject advertising) in your browser's local storage so we do not ask you again. Apart from that, the Site itself sets no cookies. If you allow advertising, Google and its partners may set cookies, as described below.
Third-party services
Parts of the Site load content from other companies. When that happens, your browser connects to their servers and they can see your IP address and basic browser details, and they may set their own cookies. Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies.
- Google Maps (Map page): the map is an embedded Google Maps window. Google may collect information and use cookies when it loads. Links labeled "Directions" or "Open in Google Maps" take you to Google Maps.
- Google Fonts: the Site's typefaces are loaded from Google's font servers.
- Google Calendar: if you click "Add to Google Calendar," you go to Google, which receives the event details in the link.
- Open-Meteo (weather bar): the Site requests the Bay City forecast from the Open-Meteo weather service. The request uses Bay City's fixed location, not yours, but the service can see your IP address.
- Wikimedia Commons (Gallery and Events videos): the fireworks video is streamed from Wikimedia's servers.
- Google AdSense: if you allow advertising, ads are loaded from Google's servers (see "Advertising" above).
- Other websites: the Site links to businesses, churches, the City of Bay City and other organizations. Once you leave the Site, this policy no longer applies.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
The Site may show ads provided by Google through Google AdSense. Ads are labeled "Advertisement." To show and measure ads, Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, device identifiers and similar technologies, and may collect information such as your IP address, browser and device details, the pages you view and how you interact with ads. This can include showing ads based on your interests and earlier visits to this and other websites.
- Your consent comes first. Ads are loaded only after you choose "Accept all" or turn on Advertising in the privacy banner. If you reject, or your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we do not load ads.
- Change your mind any time. Use the "Privacy choices" link at the bottom of every page to review or withdraw your choice.
- Google's own controls. You can manage ad personalization in your Google Ad Settings and learn how Google uses information from sites like this one at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can also opt out of many interest-based ads at optout.aboutads.info.
- Visitors in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland. Where required, we use a consent tool that meets Google's requirements, and ads that use cookies or personal data are shown only if you consent.
Advertisers and ad networks have their own privacy policies, which we do not control.
Your privacy rights
Depending on where you live (for example California, Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia and other states), you may have the right to know what personal information a business collects, to ask for it to be corrected or deleted, and to opt out of "sales," "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising, and targeted advertising. We do not sell your personal information for money. Allowing Google to use cookies for personalized ads may count as "sharing" or "targeted advertising" under some state laws. To opt out, reject advertising in the banner, use "Privacy choices" at the bottom of any page, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser, which we honor. How we use information
We use information you send us only to review and publish business and event submissions, to answer your questions, and to keep the Site accurate and secure. We do not sell or rent the personal information you send us, and we do not use it to target ads. (Ad technology provided by Google, described above, works separately and only if you allow it.)
Sharing
We share information only with service providers that help us run the Site (for example our web host and email provider), when required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of the Site and its users. Business details you submit for a listing, such as a name, address, phone number and website, may be shown publicly on the Site.
Your choices
- You can block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings.
- You can ask us to correct or remove a listing or something you submitted by contacting us at support@toddallynmedia.com.
- You can use the Site without submitting any personal information.
Children
The Site is a general community guide and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect information we receive, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We keep submissions only as long as needed to maintain listings and respond to you.
Changes
We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows when it last changed. Using the Site after an update means you accept the revised policy.
